Under the supervision of our WONDERFUL Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher's, the

Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher's  and Care giving Assistants shall be responsible to:

  1. Assist in carrying out goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards.
  2. Assist with supervision of our sweet children at all times in classroom, restroom, and on playground.
  3. Assist in an equal share of joint housekeeping, class preparation, ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom in cooperation with other staff.
  4. Assist with documentation of daily needs and service plans, collection and input of screenings and ongoing assessment documentation (anecdotal records, developing Reps, and performing daily health observations.)
  5. Assist in developing and implementing daily and weekly lesson plan activities.
  6. Assist with care giving routines and implementation of health plans.
  7. Assist in maintaining effective communication with parents, including parent teacher conferences.
  8. Attend our FUN staff meetings and in-service training.
  9. Assist with the recruitment efforts.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Job requirements for an Assistant Teacher: Candidate must either be enrolled in school pursing higher education in Early Childhood or Elementary education or be willing to go to school (we offer tuition payment assistance, woohoo!) Assistant teacher candidates must meet or exceed all Michigan State DHS Licensing requirements.

Our center blends a small family-like environment with high standards of early childhood practice.  The ideal candidate will provide our children with consistency, love, and developmental enrichment. This position is flexible in schedule and is on a contract basis to possible long term.  Potential candidates would have to enjoy at least 15 hours each week with us at Joyful • A minimum of 1 years experience as an early childhood caregiver. •

Must possess a loving, nurturing, gentle, patient demeanor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Worked for at least one year in an early childhood setting

Education Required: High School Diploma/Equivalency


Additional Requirements:

Negative TB and Fingerprint scan

Toddler and Pre-K Teacher's shall be responsible to:

  1. Assist in carrying out goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards.
  2. Assist in an equal share of joint housekeeping, class preparation, ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom in cooperation with other staff.
  3. Document daily needs and service plans, collection and input of screenings and ongoing assessment documentation (anecdotal records, developing IEPs, and performing daily health observations.)
  4. Assist in developing and implementing daily and weekly lesson plan activities.
  5. Assist with care giving routines and implementation of health plans.
  6. Maintain effective communication with parents, including parent teacher conferences.
  7. Attend our FUN staff meetings and in-service training.
  8. Assist with the recruitment efforts.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Provide equal care and respect to all children  * Provide an environment that ensures the health and safety of all children  *Excellent written and oral communication skills *Develop, implement, and assess age appropriate holistic experiences for an assigned age group * Responsible for arrangement and décor displayed in classroom *Must have professional standards in working with children, parents and staff  *Experience working with a team of assistant teachers is preferred *Use positive guidance and discipline in their classroom  *Follow all Joyful Tots Childcare & Learning Center policies, procedures and core values  *Oversee Assistant Teachers in their assigned  Joyful classrooms  *Must be self-directed, motivated and possess a strong holistic educational philosophy. *Encourage self-motivation in children and build self esteem *Create and maintain a warm and loving atmosphere in their assigned room *Maintain professional conduct in working with parents and staff, as well as visitors and the general public *Participate in professional development opportunities *Take direction from Joyful's Assistant Director


Minimum Qualifications:

Additional Requirements: LEAD TEACHER

An Associates Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field is strongly preferred, but NOT REQUIRED. Lead teacher candidates must meet or exceed all Michigan State DHS Licensing requirements (which includes 3 semester hours or 4.5 CEU's of infant/toddler development and care practices). 

Our center blends a small family-like environment with high standards of early childhood practice.  The ideal candidate will provide our children with consistency, love, and developmental enrichment.

This position is Monday-Friday with a minimum of at least 30 hours a week, on a contract basis to possible long term.
